Your stay at the Red Cross Hospital

The length of hospitalization depends both on the severity of the procedure as well as on how quickly patients recover from the procedure.

While the arthroscopic procedure in the case of a shoulder impingement syndrome can be done on an outpatient basis, patients undergoing joint replacement surgery on their shoulder, hip, or knee should expect to be hospitalized for around ten days. In the case of disc operations, patients should expect a hospital stay lasting from three to five days after the surgery. For spinal fusions, the hospital stay lasts ten to twelve days. In these cases, patients can generally leave their beds on the day after the operation and also begin doing their first mobilization exercises. Early functional exercise activities are initiated immediately on the first day post-op under the direction of our highly skilled team of physical therapists. They in turn are supported during your recovery by a highly skilled team of caregivers.
